NOTES: NOTES ON TAPE: "Again on 16 November around 7:30 am, that's Phoenicircus nigricollis, I *think* a female. It flew several times overhead in response to playback and never had any of the wing-whirring noise of the males. It did look bright red, but I think it probably was a female. It responded several times and began actively calling in response to playback, but then disappeared in the forest and stopped responding. Calling from about 10-15m up in the forest, seemingly mostly from rather dense tangles of vegetation rather than very open perches." [Some vocalizations distorted on field tape. mf]
