Observation details
pictures attached for review. Very dark, almost black bird. Breast heavily barred. Some white markings on the face about the bill. Leg feathers are barred as well. As I was driving I thought it was a Raven on the power line because the bird was so dark. When I got closer I saw spots on the wings. Turned the car around and went back for a better look. While I was moving the car because this bird had flown a bit, an adult flew in over this bird, screaming. I got out of the car in time to see that the adult's back was very dark and it had a dark red tail, I never saw the underside as I was concentrated on getting pictures of this bird. The adult circled around and came back over, screaming as it went. It landed in a tree in the shadows so I couldn't see it, but it continued to scream and "talk". The younger bird never made a peep.
