Observation details
I observed this pair of White-winged Scoters from the south shoreline of the Columbia River just to the west of where the Sandy River flows in. They were a good distance beyond the sandbars of the delta. It was easy to see they were Scoters with my scope zoomed in to 60X, but taking photographs was a bit tricky. The first two are digiscoped with my iPhone, but the third was taken with my Canon SX50 on my scope tripod. They were just too far for sharp pics but I was able to get the "white comma" and the white wing patch.
