Observation details
Continuing juvenile, originally found by Greg Prelich and friend on 8/17 and observed many days since by mobs. Distance to bird ranged from 200 yards to 100 yards. Intermediate in size between Great Egret and Tri-colored Heron. Uniform gray plumage tinged with a bit of brown, beady silver eye, dark blue-gray bill. To me, wings seemed somewhat short for a bird this size. Fed by running around in shallows as if literally chasing after individual fish, occasionally holding wings open. Associating with Tricoloreds. ~MC
